High growth rates were recorded in the volume of Turkmenistan's cross-border cargo traffic during the first six months of 2026. During the reporting period, 94 countries worldwide utilized the transit transport opportunities of our country. Meanwhile, the total volume of international transit cargo carried through the territory of Turkmenistan exceeded 3,5 million tons, showing a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. This was reported by a press service of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

In the first half of this year, a total of more than 10,5 million tons of cargo traffic was handled through the checkpoints of the state border, which is a 10% increase compared to last year. Along with this, a 6% growth was achieved in the cross-border circulation of export and import goods related to the country's foreign trade relations.

The steady increase in indicators is directly linked to the phased modernization of customs posts along the international transport corridors passing through the territory of our country. In line with modern requirements, the transport and cargo throughput capacity of customs authorities is consistently strengthened, and the capabilities of digital systems are widely integrated into their operations. These measures create favorable conditions for a further increase in the volume of transit goods passing through Turkmenistan.

Currently, at border customs posts equipped with the latest inspection machinery, all customs operations are monitored via a digital system from the very moment vehicles enter the premises. The introduction of innovative technologies has made it possible to significantly reduce the time spent on clearance procedures within the customs zones and enabled a much faster execution of all processes.
