The construction of modern highways is one of the key areas in developing the transport and logistics system of Turkmenistan. The creation of high-speed highways in our country that comply with international standards creates favorable conditions for expanding the capabilities of transport corridors, enhancing road safety, and boosting economic relations.

The commissioning of the Ashgabat – Turkmenabat high-speed autobahn, one of the crucial transport projects of this year, became a clear demonstration of the large-scale work being carried out in this direction. The construction of this highway, with a total length of approximately 600 kilometers, was carried out in three stages.

Special attention was paid to international best practices during the construction of the new autobahn. Roadwork was conducted in accordance with high-quality standards, including the "DIN" standards used on Germany's high-speed highways, as well as relevant construction norms. As a result, necessary conditions were established for the safe and comfortable movement of vehicles.

Currently, preparations are underway for the construction of the Ashgabat – Turkmenbashi high-speed autobahn. Upon the successful implementation of this project, a modern transport corridor will be formed, stretching from the eastern border of our country to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

This highway, which will be nearly 560–600 kilometers long, will start in the city of Ashgabat and pass through the territories of Ahal and Balkan provinces. It will serve as a logical continuation of the Ashgabat – Turkmenabat autobahn, further strengthening the "East – West" transport route passing through Turkmenistan.

The new transport corridor will enable faster and seamless delivery of cargo coming from China and Central Asian states through the cities of Turkmenabat and Ashgabat to the Turkmenbashi port. It will also positively impact the growth of cargo flows heading across the Caspian Sea toward Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkiye, and Europe.

The development of high-speed highways opens up new prospects not only for freight transportation systems but also for the tourism sector. The creation of comfortable road conditions will contribute to an increase in the number of people traveling to the scenic spots of our country using private vehicles and modern intercity buses.

An increasing number of tourists creates new growth opportunities for industries such as hospitality, catering, retail, and recreational services. Thus, a modern, year-round service infrastructure is being formed, turning the transport system into one of the vital drivers of the national economy.

Turkmenistan's high-speed highways are strategic projects that not only expand internal transport capacities but also significantly reinforce the country's standing within international transport corridors.
