Turkmenistan and Iran resume traffic through Bajgiran border crossing

The passage of trucks from the “Howdan-Bajgiran” checkpoint on the state border of Turkmenistan and Iran has been restored. This was reported by the “IRNA” news agency with reference to the words of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran in the Khorasan region Mohammad Beheshti.

According to reports, in order to further develop trade relations between the two countries, the Turkmen side permitted 10 Iranian trucks to pass through the mentioned border point. Due to the global COVID-19 situation, the “Howdan-Bajgiran” border checkpoint has been temporarily closed to trucks for 3 years. Currently, the cargo can be passed through all checkpoints on the Turkmen-Iranian border.

According to an Iranian official, trucks should not weigh more than 20 tons, and their movement should end in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

The “Bajgiran” border checkpoint is located 35 kilometers south of Ashgabat.

As we reported earlier, recently at the “Howdan-Bajgiran” checkpoint, located on the Turkmen-Iranian state border, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan organized a working meeting of the heads of the customs authorities of the two countries.
