Turkmen-Russian talks were held in Ashgabat

A wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed today in Ashgabat by the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk, announced the news program “Watan” of the Turkmen television.

The agenda included prospects for further expansion of mutually beneficial partnerships in such priority areas as trade, economic, financial and banking, the fuel and energy complex, transport and communications, logistics, industry, agriculture and other areas of mutual interest.

The subject of discussion was also certain aspects of the Turkmen-Russian cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular, in the field of education, healthcare, science and culture, the interaction in which is traditional, systematic.

The parties positively assessed the work carried out to implement the previously reached agreements and confirmed the interest of the two countries in intensifying productive relations.

As emphasized, a clear confirmation of the mutual firm intention to steadily follow the course of the comprehensive strengthening of long-term fruitful ties is the established constructive dialogue at the highest state level, which directly serves to develop common, coordinated approaches to the formation of an effective partnership both on a bilateral and multilateral basis, including on the platform of the largest international organizations and authoritative regional structures.

Today, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, which celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in April this year, are building a modern model of strategic cooperation, taking into account the achievements of past years, national interests and the primary tasks of socio-economic development.

During the meeting, which continued in an expanded format, with the participation of the heads of individual ministries and departments, the implementation of important joint projects was discussed and a number of concrete steps were outlined to diversify cooperation.

The parties noted with satisfaction the productivity of the established inter-parliamentary relations, thanks to which a solid legal base has been largely formed, regularly updated with important international documents.

It was noted with satisfaction that recent years have been characterized by consistently high dynamics of growth in the volume of trade between Turkmenistan and Russia, which are taking real steps to diversify the product range of mutual export-import operations.

The accumulated solid experience of many years of successful joint work testifies to the firm intention of the parties to steadily build up multifaceted cooperation. Today, certain regions, large industrial and cultural centers, including the Republic of Tatarstan, the Astrakhan and Sverdlovsk regions, the city of St. more complete realization of the potential of interstate relations.

Expressing the great interest of Russian business circles in expanding their presence in the promising Turkmen market, the guests emphasized the readiness of Russian business to continue to take an active part in the grandiose projects of the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan and share the best advanced experience and the latest technological developments with their Turkmen partners.

The need for further intensification of mutual actions in order to expand humanitarian cooperation was especially noted, in particular, the importance of implementing projects to create the Turkmen-Russian University and the construction of a new building of the Pushkin Russian Drama Theater in Ashgabat.

During the talks, issues of preparation for the upcoming 12th meeting of the joint commission in Moscow on December 6-7 this year, on the sidelines of which it is planned to sign more than ten bilateral documents in various fields, were also considered.
